Safaris in South Africa — Western Region
This region includes the North West Province and the Northern Cape. It is approximately 4500' ASL. The area has it's own charming type of African bush. In the winter months it is cold and dry, summers are hot to very hot. It offers the following:
- Sun City: The gambling and entertainment capital of Africa.
- Pilanesberg Game Reserve: Next to Sun City offering the "Big 5"
- Madikwe Private Reserve: On the Botswana border 1,4 hours from Sun City, excellent Africa accommodation offering the Big 5 with excellent food and service.
- Kalahari Reserve & Dunes: In the desert. Accommodation slightly less luxury but of a fine standard. See the Kalahari dunes, lions, Augrabies Waterfalls and more in semi-desert area.
