4x4 in Mozambique with Roy's Tours & Safaris
Our long-standing government contracted, hunting, fishing & nature concession is 360000 HA in size on the southern banks of the magnificent lake Cahorra Bassa, in the Tete province of central Mozambique. This 360 x 35km lake is our northern border, thus ensuring magnificent nature settings when out in the field and on the third largest dam in Africa.
This area is big & wild man!! – not a fenced-off little game farm – true real Africa – open & unspoilt! (Look at our gallery).
This vast area is home to many species of big and small game, fish, hippo, crocs, & unimaginable birdlife. Very few of the local population is permitted, only in small, designated Mashangas or homesteads. Access is by road, air or the dam itself.
Accommodation is provided in the Tuvi area, in the Sable Hills Safari Camp. The camp is built on the hill overlooking the lake with magnificent views all day & night, moon and sunsets, like you won't believe!!
The infra-structure of the camp excellent: 25kva generator & back up, filtered water processor, deep freezers, ice machine, linen, catering equipment, dining area, lapa, and so on and there are also 20 staff members to meet your every need.
The camp has 3 levels:
- Top camp – 4 x luxury en-suite safari tents; max 8 guests; fully catered
- Bottom camp – 2 x 6 man thatch bashas, shower, toilet; max 10 guests; catered or self catering
- Hippo camp – 4x4 vehicle camp totally self reliant with only a toilet, shower, & braai place; max 10 vehicles
